For 275 years, First Church has been a spiritual home at the heart of our Cape Cod village. Founded in 1747, our congregation has stood as a beacon of faith, hope, and hospitality for generations. We are proud to be part of the United Church of Christ, a denomination rooted in the values of unity, justice, and the unconditional love of God.

We are a small but vibrant congregation of individuals seeking to live out Christ’s love in our daily lives. Many of our members are long-time residents and retirees who bring wisdom, experience, and a deep commitment to one another and the wider community. We cherish our traditions, while also welcoming new ideas and new people.

Our Worship
Our Sunday worship is rooted in tradition, with music, Scripture, prayer, and a thoughtful message that connects timeless truths with today’s world. Services begin at 10:30 AM Sunday mornings and are followed by a time of coffee, fellowship and conversation in our Parish House. Whether you’ve attended church all your life or haven’t stepped into one in years, you’ll find a warm and friendly space here.

A Living Legacy
For nearly three centuries, The 1st Congregational Church of Harwich has stood as a testament to faith through changing times. Our historic sanctuary, cherished hymns, and long-standing community ties are a rich foundation for the future. Seeing needs in our community, our church has responded accordingly. As a founder of Pine Oaks Senior housing, the church saw a need and launched a funding and building program. The first open and affirming church on the Cape, we welcome All into our sanctuary. Seeing needs of young families in our community we launched and continue to support The Children's Center in Harwich. Today, we continue that legacy—welcoming newcomers, supporting one another and our community needs, and reaching out in love to the wider world.
