Why First Church ?

A lot of churches say they’re friendly.  Usually that means they’re friendly with each other, not necessarily with visiting guests.  Here at First Church, you are assured of a warm, heartfelt welcome, no matter who you are.

As the service begins, you will experience worship on a human scale, yet Christ-centered, lighthearted, but serious, joyous, though unafraid to confront the difficult issues, issues that affect each of us as we make our way through this magnificent though troubled world.

Going forth from worship, uplifted by its music, centered in its prayers, moved by God’s word to us and filled with love and compassion, we go forth to serve Christ with joy and purpose.  Through its varied ministries, First Church seeks to apply faithfully this Sabbath experience of considered affection in meeting the complex needs of our yearning, bewildering world.
