MUSIC NEWS

April 11, 2018 by FCCH Staff

Join us at the Music Program at First Congregational Church, in Harwich Center. We have a number of activities you could explore:
Church choir, which meets on Wednesdays at 5. We sing from September to June. Some of us read music and some don’t. There are solo opportunities year round.

We have a Christmas concert with choral music, instruments and narration. We begin rehearsals in Sept. and the concert is the first week in December.
We have two coffeehouses a year and any type of music works great for this event. Jazz, rock, gospel, you name it. All ages can perform.
We are planning a Spiritual and Religious Music concert which will include choral music, and solos. We invite people in the community and from other churches to join us.

We have a summer program for Harwich singers between the ages of 9 and 14, who can participate in a weekly chorus rehearsal and also receive free voice lessons for 6 weeks in the summer. At the end of those 6 weeks there will be a concert. The repertoire includes pop, jazz, folk, and musical theater selections and each student can choose solo literature.
We also recently had an evening performance of local high school bands, and are interested in doing this again.

We would love to meet you and have you join in these activities. You may contact First Congregational Church at 508-423-1053, or at firstchurchharwich@comcast.net. Marcia Hempel is Music Director and can be reached at hempelm@earthlink.net, or you may call the church office and they will put you in touch.

We are reaching out to the community. Pick an activity and give it a try. We have organ concerts in the summer, Music Sunday and Peace and Justice Sunday, and there are many possibilities for new programs. Contact us, speak to Marcia. Use your musical talents and interests and join us.
